Apple CEO Tim Cook’s Palo Alto house in California has been blurred on panoramic maps by Apple Maps and Google Maps. Users using Google Maps and Apple Maps are now seeing a blurred image of Tim Cook’s residence instead.

However, on Google Earth and Google Maps, his house is still visible from above but while using either service’s Street View, the region appears to be blurred throughout. The area’s above satellite picture, as well as the Look Around close-up street photos, have been blocked away by Apple Maps.

The update, first spotted by Apple news site Cult of Mac, follows revelations about an alleged stalker who claimed to be Mr. Cook’s wife.

Court documents filed in Santa Clara County described how a 45-year-old woman sent the tech billionaire pictures of guns, bullets, and computers, and was caught trespassing on his property.

Apple described the woman’s behavior as “erratic, threatening, and bizarre” in its application for the restraining order, which was granted last week.

Tim Cook has never attempted to hide his place of residence in Palo Alto, California. However, his address hadn’t been known publicly until Apple had to reveal it for court filings.

Apple CEO’s residence is still visible on Google Maps and Google Earth if seen from above. If you use the Street View feature, the area surrounding the property will appear blurred out.

Apple too has blurred out Tim Cook’s residence from Apple Maps as well as from its Look Around feature that works like Google’s Street View.

It has been reported that Cook came to know about the woman from Twitter. She used the last name Cook on Twitter and claimed to be the Apple CEO’s wife. She also claimed that the Apple CEO was the father to her two twins.

In 2020, she sent around 200 emails to Cook, which Apple in the court filing said were “threatening and highly disturbing”. The emails had photos of a revolver as well as some ammunition. Not just that she registered fake companies and named Cook as a director or an agent of these companies.

In September 2021 the woman landed at Cook’s residence and sent an email to be his roommate. She had been sending emails to Cook regularly. Around Christmas in 2021, she emailed Cook and demanded millions of dollars and also sent emails that had violent language. Little surprise then that Apple and Google have ‘hidden’ the Apple CEO’s residence from the Maps app.

As part of Apple’s request for a restraining order, however, the court filings were required to include Cook’s full postal address. So while Cook has made no secret that he lives in Palo Alto, the exact street name and number were less publicly known until now.

At present, his house can still be seen from above on Google Earth and Google Maps. However, zooming in to Street View in either service presents the area with the same blurring across the entire property.

Apple Maps has blurred it out from the overhead satellite view of the area, as well as the Look Around close-up street photography.
