Malaysian Man Converts Selfies into NFTs, Becomes Millionaire in 5 Days

In the last year, several elements of the crypto space have witnessed a boom in adoption and one of these are digital collectibles called non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Sultan Gustaf Al Ghozali, a 22-year-old Indonesian college student has made the most of it, churning out over a million dollars by selling NFTs. The computer science student from Semarang, Indonesia, converted nearly 1,000 of his selfies taken over the course of five years into NFTs and sold them on the OpenSea marketplace.

In a bid to be able to revisit his college days later, Ghozali had taken a rather expressionless selfie sitting or standing in front of his computer each day between the ages 18 and 22. He turned these images into NFTs and put them on OpenSea for sale, pricing each at $3 (roughly Rs. 222).

Ghozali’s NFT collection reached a total trade volume of ETH 317 or $1,041,325 (roughly Rs. 7.73 crores), making him a millionaire overnight, a report by Lifestyle Asia said.

Twenty-two-year-old Ghonjali, who lives in Semarang Central Java, Malaysia, is in the news because of his selfies. The boy clicked his selfie every day for the last five years to make a video. But little did he know that this hobby of his would make him a millionaire one day.

Now, five years later, his selfies are being sold in lakhs after he converted them into NFTs. NFT stands for Non-Fungible Token that represents an asset like any other.

This 22-year-old Sultan Gustaf Al Ghozali, an Indonesian college student is all over the internet because of his selfies. He is minting millions of dollars just by selling NFTs. He converted as many as 1,000 of his selfies taken over the course of five years into NFTs and sold them on the OpenSea marketplace.

This computer science student took expressionless selfies in sitting or standing both, in front of his computer every day between the ages 18 and 22 and later turned these images into NFTs and put them on sale on OpenSea for sale at $3 (Rs 222 approx).

It is however unbelievable for a 22-year-old boy that people are buying his selfies. He, in fact, took to micro-blogging site Twitter and requested people to not abuse his pictures or else his “parents would be disappointed. In his tweet, he wrote, “You can do anything like flipping but please don’t abuse my pictures. Or else, my parents will be very disappointed in me.”

On his Twitter account, where he has more than 16,000 followers, the student often offers updates on his OpenSea statistics.

“Today (I) sold more than 230+ (selfies) and until now I don’t understand why you want to buy #NFT photos of me !!! but i thank you guys for 5 years of effort paid off,” he tweeted on Tuesday.

Ghozali, who dreams of opening his own animation studio one day, said he plans to invest the money and will continue to take daily selfies until he finishes college.
